We will soon have two vacancies on the Board of Directors and are currently seeking nominations to fill the positions. One of our Board members, Mr. Martin Doctrow, will not be running for a following term so we will have an election during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in September, 2012. The term of Board Member, Mrs. Brenda Hodges will also be up for re-election. 
Board service requires a good deal of work and entails a significant commitment of time away from home (and if employed, from work).

A term on the Board is six years and goes into effect as per January 1st of the following year after election.

10/03/2011 2012 PENDING PROJECTS

Now that our Room Renovation and Lobby Upgrade projects have been completed, La Cabana Beach & Racquet Club will embark on the next phase of property renovations which will include several pending projects. 

As anticipated by the Board, one of the projects includes the room and deck renovation of the ocean front suites (E & D units).  This extensive undertaking will affect usage of these units for certain time periods during 2012.  In total we have 16 ocean front units.  Renovation of the 8 units on the south side (Sunday to Sunday) will commence in May 2012 and finish by early October while the other 8 units on the north side (Saturday to Saturday) will be done early August and finalize by December 1st, 2012. 

 A schedule is made available on this site under ‘RENOVATION SCHEDULE E & D UNIT’ to specify the dates that these ocean front suites are under renovation. 

Owners of the E & D Ocean Front units affected by this renovation will have the same options as the owners of A, B, C & F units whose weeks were affected during the last 3 years.  Therefore we urge all E & D Ocean Front unit owners not to make airline reservations before contacting our owners’ reservations department at owners@lacabanabrc.com to verify and or make use of the alternate options for their 2012 unit/week(s).

THE OPTIONS ARE:

1.    Deposit your week with Interval International. You can contact Interval International by telephone # 1-800-828-8200 or 1-305-666-1884 or visit their website: www.intervalworld.com
2.    Accept an Entitlement Certificate, which is valid for five (5) years from the start date of your week that was scheduled for renovation. 
3.    Request an in-house exchange (re-location of unit or week). Please keep in mind that all confirmations are based on a space available basis, and there is no guarantee for your original unit type, location or view. To be able to request this option, your account with us has to be up to date.

Amongst the other pending projects are the guest buildings for exterior concrete restoration, coating/painting and handrail replacements which will affect certain unit locations.  The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors will be available for occupancy but will not have access to their balconies. The ground floor units will not be available for owners to use during this time.  This project will start from early April and will continue by phases in the same sequence as we had our room renovation (phase 1 – 12) and is scheduled to be completed by mid November 2012.  Please refer to the available schedule on this site under ‘RENOVATION SCHEDULE 1ST FLOOR UNITS
