Thread: Beach Huts

I don't understand how secerity can remove belongings of someone at a hut unless it is on one of our chairs if the huts are public proerty

Why do I get the feeling that dutchy499 is one of the people who put their belongings at a palapa in the morning and leave it unoccupied for a good part of the day? The issue is the regulations LCBRC try to enforce and not who has jurisdiction on the beach.

the law is the law and for your information i have been going to LCBRC for over 10 years and i have never sat or reserved a palapa in all that time and i get up very early but i only get a table by the pool but i could get a front row on the beach i just don't understand how our rent a cops can remove anything from the table under the palapa and how they can charge for them down by the high rise hotels

I'm not sure what the law is, maybe Willie can answer it, but why can't LCBRC put up more palapas if that would help. It just comes down to basic consideration. I did see a few that had nothing but a towel or bag hanging from one of the hooks and not even chairs. The people didn't show up until 9AM. I didn't think that was even possible. The guy next to him said he was there at 4AM and and the stuff was already hanging there. Talk about bold. I was tempted to just take the spot for spite but I figured if security did nothing about it that it must be OK. This was an isolated situation and only saw it once. Security did a good job tagging when they were supposed to.

I have been coming to La Cabana for over 20 years and the hut situation is what it is. There is no better way. this is the fairest. So get up early and get a hut if you want one. stop complaining.****MOVE ON ALREADY****So many babies!!!!I in don't want to have to pay for a hut either. I pay enough in maintenance.

There's a difference between an owner reserving a hut with a few personal items(according to our rules) and the general public leaving things behind or abandoning them at one of Lacabana's huts. If someone tries to leave a t-shirt ot magazine at a hut at 4am they should return at 8 to find them in a lost and found box with security. The beaches are public but I doubt the public has much in the way of rights to our huts when they are not there. We pay for the security and as one of our benifits the guards will allow us to reserve huts for a short period of time. The general public should not have the same benifit. If anyone sees a non lacabana towel reserving one of our huts for long periods of time thay should alert security and thay're things should be removed. Yes, the beaches are public and therefore anyone can place a towel on the sand anywhere they want. However, the huts are not and only owners/members/guests can use them. I own timeshares on Palm Beach also and that's the reason why the Marriott can charge a fee for front row palapas. The best system and the only one that works best is "first come, first served". However, I will add that I like the rule they enforce at the Marriott, which is, you can come down to reserve your chairs as early as you want, however, you are required to wait until 7:00am before you can leave the chairs. In other words, if you are NOT physically there, you lose your spot. Works well.

From what I understand, the huts were built and paid for by LaCabanna. but the entire beach is a public beach
and anyone can use them if they are vacant. The only thing LaCabanna has control over are the loungers that we own. Anyone can rent a lounger from the vendor on the beach and put it under a hut.
